The live-action film adaptation of Tatsuki Fujimoto's 'Look Back' manga has unveiled a new trailer, revealing more cast members and its September 11 opening date in Japan. The film, directed by Hirokazu Kore-eda, features an all-star cast including Masaki Suda, Kankurō Kudō, Kayo Noro, Ryō Ikeda, Miyu Sasaki, Maho Yamada, and more. GKIDS will release the film in theaters in 2026 in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., and Ireland. The film's premiere at the 79th Cannes International Film Festival on May 15th further adds to its anticipation. The anime film adaptation of Fujimoto's 'Look Back' manga, which opened in Japan in June 2024, ranked #2 in ticket sales and #1 in weekend earnings. GKIDS also screened the film in North America in October 2024, earning US$688,253 at the U.S. box office in its opening weekend. The one-shot manga, published by Shueisha's Shonen Jump+, had over 2.5 million views on its first day and was later adapted into an anime film. The story follows the relationship between Fujino and Kyomoto, two girls with contrasting personalities, and explores themes of growing up and moving forward. Fujimoto is also known for creating the popular manga 'Chainsaw Man', which debuted in Weekly Shonen Jump in December 2018 and ended its 'Kōan' arc in December 2020. The 'Gakkō-hen' (School Arc) began in July 2022 and concluded on March 24, 2026.
